Thread Repair

Thread repair kits, inserts and installation tools from Champion and Helicoil, for restoring stripped threads in metric, UNC and UNF sizes.

A thread repair kit drills out the damaged thread, taps a new oversize thread, and installs a coiled wire insert that returns the hole to its original size. The repaired thread is often stronger than the original, which makes it the standard fix for stripped threads in aluminium castings and spark plug holes.

Kits include the drill, tap, installation tool and inserts for one size. Refill packs of inserts are listed separately for workshops that repair the same size regularly.
